Wow, you feel like you need Dostoevsky? I couldn't imagine having that sort of connection with an author- as yet, anyway. I tell people that I regret Roald Dahl's death because his stories were always so incredibly inventive and I've never read another children's author that could do quite the same thing. It must be amazing to feel like that, though.

I develop interests so quickly that I never have the time to be obsessed about something. You mentioned collecting secondhand books, and I can relate-I love used bookstores, and I love collecting used books. There's something about a book that's got no cover or is missing the page with the publishing date that's really enigmatic and fun. You don't exactly know what you'll get till you start to read. And well, old books smell better than new ones :)

Haha, the entire time reading your thoughts behind second-hand books, I was sitting there thinking, "Ah, but she's forgetting the most amazing part about old, used books... the smell!". But then you said it, and I put my foot in my mouth.
I agree, though, second-hand books are too amazing for words. I won't pay a lot of money for a second-hand book, for myself, but I picked up a first edition hardcopy of "To Kill A Mockingbird" for Keiko's birthday, since it is one of her favorite books. It's amazing.

My first day out on my new bike, I decided to take it around the neighborhood so I wouldn't have to deal with too much traffic (it was rush hour). Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the cute little neighborhood road that I was on turned into a big, scary main road that leads to the on-ramp for the highway.
Not only does it turn into said scary road, but it does so at a rather steep slope and 90 degree curve.
Needless to say, while trying to avoid smashing into cars and maneuver the slope/turn...I completely wiped out for all of the bumper-to-bumper traffic jam to see. Didn't scratch the new bike, though!
