I figured there was something inside of it, and that whatever may be inside of it would be useful to us. I could swear there was something inside of the one in the story about the mercenary company that went to Jhivantane (which I can't seem to find, now). I couldn't get inside it when it was dropped, so I thought that if someone could, it would be the Champion. However, the Champion decided to stick with his strategy of "glare at his foes until they yield".
I thought the ideas of showing deference to dudeface (can't remember his name) or necro-ing him down were reasonable, but I remember hearing after the fact something about their bottles being inside the golem.
while your theory on something being in it might be correct, the story from jhivantane didnt' include a scarab golem. there was one of insects. and it wasn't a golem in the strictest sense of the word. it was literally a strange one... a transcendent creature that doesn't fit into generic categories. Silway knew this and probably didn't use the same thing.
I'm not sure the scarab thing was a golem in the strictest sense of the word, either! Based on the physical description I got, I assumed it was the beetle equivalent of fighting a person-shaped swarm of bees, and was reminded of that mercenary company. Maybe I saw such a thing elsewhere and got my wires crossed.
Oh, there something else that sucked. I found myself choosing who would live and who would die. I've sent people on suicide missions before (they lived), but having life spells left and denying them to people *really* sucked. It bothered me mainly in-game, but yeah... yeesh.
Yah. I had that in the portion of the fight I was in. A newbie and two people I liked were lying on the ground, and Omi stepped over them to use her last life spell on tinwesl.
Hopefully soon! I intend to PC Volta, Madrigal, and 7V at least, and perhaps Aralis and RH as well. I'll just have to see how everything shakes out.
I was going to move up there last fall, but I stuck around NC because of a great opportunity I could help someone with. Now, there are just a few things to wrap up here and then I can start looking for a gig in the Northeast. I can't imagine that I'd move before March, but I'll be sorely disappointed if it doesn't happen sometime this coming Spring.
Some people are quick to remind me that I've been saying this for a while now, but North Carolina is by no means my home, and I'm quite eager to leave!
Not playing NERO in the past 6 or 7 years, I was oh so guilty of doing the Madrigal disarm weapon recovery - several times. It wasn't until the drive home that I remembered it worked differently. If I was one of the folks that did it to you, my apologies!
How could you?! Jesus fu- nah, it's cool. It's pretty much a miracle that the spell worked at all!
I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to meet - when people pointed out to me that you were there it made not having my sword and shield doubly-disappointing, since I would've liked to see how long I could fail to stand up to a fighter such as yourself. Ah well, maybe next time!
