I grow weary of the two sides of this issue. On the one hand you have the rabid “global warming/climate change/next ice age” community that has been declaring a national ecological emergency since the 1970’s. Doubt me? Yay for hating both sides.

The U.S. seems to have an irrational fear of nuclear power.

Considering the fact that "Three Mile Island" was an overblown incident that was nowhere near as dangerous as this particular spill I don't feel I like the comparison. Especially since the amount of radiation released in Three Mile was measured in millirems. Most people had no more radiation affect them than a chest x-ray and a few had about the same amount that you get from background radiation in a year ( ... )

People are REALLY not understanding the battery issue. The renewables argument always ends up there, and I always just surrender, because no one believes me that the technology is not available. I'm burnt out on talking about it, and it's not worth my time. If they want to live off magical fairy dust at night and rely on solar, good for them! If they want to save their fairy dust for daytime and live off wind, go for it. Blargh ( ... )

I should also point out that my comments in this particular post regarding the oil spill was before I learned of the naturally occurring microbes that cleaned things up for us.

Things like that make me really look at Michael Crichton's speeches with much more respect than ever before.
