wow, that is a seriously nifty idea! instead of using the exhaust gas to drive a turbocharger (and constantly having to compensate for "turbo lag"), just drive a separate little generator, and use that to power the accessories, so the engine can get on with the serious business of moving the car ;-)
and i just saw something else nifty. another one of my online friends just got a motor scooter. and it uses the generator as a starter motor! (an electric motor and a generator are pretty much identical. put in electricity, you get motion out; put in motion, you get electricity out.) the battery supplies enough juice to spin the motor/generator and turn over the little 90cc engine; once the engine is running, it turns itself back into a generator and recharges the battery (and runs the lights, such as they are). of course, this only works on a very small engine - but apparently it works very well on a small engine.
