Just in-case anyone hasn't already heard of this nice little bit o' technological improvement, scientists have created the first synthetic cell. The genome within the cell is completely synthetic, programmed and controlled by the scientists in question

Agricultural uses don't really interest me, because I'm fairly unimaginative when it comes to things like that. What does interest me, though, is the potential for uses in combating viral infections. The medical applications are full of potential.

Aye, the medical uses really pique my interest as well. It could be a really large step in the field of gene therapy.
