Though, what happen when a bird get caught in? In the traditional windmill, bigger bird usually are carried away from the blade by the draft while smaller one die from pressure change. I'm not sure bigger bird will survive flying through one of those though, which may be a problem.

Aye, that I don't know. Wouldn't be too hard to put chicken wire or something across the front and back, to prevent that.

From what I've read, they seem to have a safety feature or two to prevent just that. The system shuts down if the winds get too strong, and it angles the blades away from the wind so the unit stops spinning. The whole thing angles itself right into the wind as well, so there's less chance of a cross breeze tearing it off the roof or something.

Though I doubt its hurricane proof or anything like that. ^^
