Well here's an amusing company. ^^ They want to start taking elements of shuttle design and other commonly used aspects of launch vehicles, and start mass producing commercial grade vehicles. Plus they want to start building bigger and better space stations.

Alas, the idea's not ENTIRELY novel. The idea of reusing shuttle main tanks as space station components has been around since before the shuttle itself was flying regularly; NASA just never got around to it. All it would have taken to get the tanks into orbit was a little extra propellant on each launch. It would have been a fringe benefit, a bonus.

Pity to only see someone taking the idea semi-seriously while they're prepping for the LAST shuttle mission.

Aye, I did read after the fact that NASA was indeed considering the idea years back. Too bad they never got around to it. It could have been one heck of an interesting recycling program. :3 Plus could have led to better space stations.
