a similar thread a friend linked me on facebook, where a current active duty military individual was espousing how 'domestic terrorists' would get stomped, even if they were as large as the tea party.

I did some pretty quick math, and any group that opposed the US military would quickly overwhelm them numerically if no other way simply because they compose such a tiny fractional percentage of the actual US population. Not even going into the logitics of it, but a 30% population revolt in the US would doom our military's response simply because they lack the warfighting manpower to respond to what would essentially be a 6 to 10 million man threat.
