So.
My new Wacom (a 6x8 Intuos3, to be exact) arrived the other week, and after a bit of drama where it refused to install the drivers and my computer had to spend five days in the shop and I went through internet withdrawals and everything was very bad, I was able to take it for a spin. SO MUCH LOVE. I am having a bit of trouble with transparent brushes in Photoshop, but I've been using OpenCanvas 4 for most of my coloring anyways, and it works fine in there.
Already I can tell it's more responsive, and behaves almost exactly as if I was using a pencil and paper. I could never have drawn curlicues like that with my Aiptek tablet (which is why they're all over the doodle page there). It's also got a built in 'eraser' on the end of the pen and nifty customizable buttons on the tablet itself. I've already turned two of them into 'Save' and 'Open File' buttons, which is handy.
Wacom, you should be paying me to gush about this thing. Have your people call my people.
And yeah, at this point I think I could draw Red Delicious apples in my sleep. And Fuji and Granny Smith. Look at what they've done to meeeee...
Now, some of you may have noticed it was Halloween yesterday. This is very observant of you! This year, I decided I really wanted to be an angel. However, I couldn't find anything online that wasn't either
really stupid or
fantastically skanky, so I decided to sew my own. It's been quite some time since I touched a sewing machine, but the pattern was fairly simple and think it turned out quite well.
I look so serious in that first pic. O_o Cheer up, me! You have a corset-thing now. This is happy news.
The headband kept sliding off my head at work and I kept turning round and smacking people with my wings, but it was a fun costume! I was kinda glad to get the corset off at the end of the day, though. LUNGS.
BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE.
Extra Special Offer:
How To Freak Out Your Cat On Halloween.
Step 1: Wait until the cat leaves the room
Step 2: Put on fake wings
Step 3: Put something on your head that wobbles and sparkles incessantly
Step 4: Go find the cat
The cat was sincerely worried to see me with feathers. He kept laying his ears back and trying to touch them. I should be a mouse next year, HA.
