October Language - I just couldn't get into this. It has all the interest value of ambient music combined with an oppressive, grating hiss. Not my cup of tea. I was relieved when the song finished. I can see it maybe having value as 'art' but not as music.

Roses - This was okay, but the drumbeat was really intrusive and annoying. It didn't really remind me of New Amerykah at all. There are some really excellent uses of disharmony and other stylistic flourishes in the song and her voice is great, but then it's all drowned out by the fucking drums.

Eidetic Casein - This song kept building up, but I was still waiting for it to actually start when it hit the mid-point and started to disintegrate. It certainly didn't make me feel like dancing. I guess I'm not intelligent enough to appreciate Intelligent Dance Music.

100 Days, 100 Nights - This made me feel like dancing. Funky as hell. Remnants of a bygone era, etc ( ... )

YouTube pretty much puts massive compression on everything they post (the audio type, as well as the data type), and I think that can be particularly unkind to ambient music. I think the October Language clip might suffer a bit.

It is sort of a running joke that you can pretty much define IDM in practice as music that is a bit like dance music, only much less danceable (often entirely undancable). One of the most misnamed genres ever, really.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a good version of Deep Red Bells on youtube, outside of a song-over-still-image post. I thought it'd be more interesting to have a live performance to watch. But yeah, that song is utterly amazing.
