Scary moment...

So, I finally got a bit of information back from Chapman about my application, although the way in which it was delivered was a little frightening...

I'm just going to cut and past the e-mails for you to read, so that you can judge for yourself if my response to the initial was out of whack...

T********,

I'm writing to check on the status of my application to the FTV MFA program. I'm not sure if I should be checking with you or someone in the department. I'd appreciate any information you can give me or if you can point me to the right person to ask.

Thank you.

Neiman,

There is no activity going on with your file since we did not receive a re-application or any documentation that you were interested in re-applying. Our records show you were admitted for the Fall 2005 term.

T********,

I'm rather confused, since I e-mailed you back in December and had you re-open my application. I then submitted the FTV graduate level supplemental application with all of the necessary papers; I even e-mailed regarding the accidental inclusion of an older copy of one of the papers. There should have also been another two letters of recommendation sent to you to go along with my file. Everything I read and through talking with you led me to believe the blanket graduate level application did not need to be filled out again and you said I would not need to pay the application fee again.

I sent you all of the paperwork that should have been required back in January and attempted communication with you to ensure you had everything needed to get my application to the appropriate people in the school.

I'm really hoping I didn't do all of that work putting my re-application together for nothing, not to mention sitting around for the last two and a half months waiting to hear back from someone.

Neiman,

Sorry for the confusion. I believe when we talked a few months ago, I said that since you were on an approved LOA, a re-application was not necessary. We did receive from you a new Supplemental application indicating that you wanted the Directing program, Statement of Intent, Portfolio, Dramatic Scene writing, Transformational writing and Favorite Film writing.

Your returning is between you and J******** S********. Contact him next week since we are on spring break this week and he is not on campus. His e-mail is j********@chapman.edu. If I hear anything else, I let you know.

So, I still don't know if I'm in the program or not, but I'll certainly be finding out the current status of my application for the program change next week. Hopefully I'll be contacted for a phone interview sometime next week, since that's the next step if I'm being considered for the program.
