Reality Description: The world is futuristic, but not so far into the future to be unrecognizable. While physically it still looks the same, there is a much higher technology level. Almost everything electronic is or can be connected to the global network, which means that you can control your TV or coffee maker at home while you're at work. Cell phones have ID chips that function as your ID and your bank cards, and the internet is a massive sprawling cesspool just like today, but with much more influence. The current hot news is the testing of prototype cars that drive themselves based on destination input by the passengers, to give an idea. Most homes are connected to a neighbourhood "community", which expands into a suburb or regional community, which then connects further based on location eventually building to a national scale and simulating the structure of cities and towns. The standard operating system for most devices is known as Altimit, but in the past few years several others have been rising into prominence, breaking the Altimit Corporation's monopoly. Online games are popular too, and technology lets you play them off the computer, using a special controller and a pair of glasses that may be turned partially transparent so that you can see where you are going.
Unfortunately, due to the affects of the Rebirth, reality has gotten increasingly unstable. Rifts to other dimensions open and close randomly, some visible and some not. It's mainly the duty of the GU to analyze and monitor these, but it has become increasingly difficult as the number of these is on the rise. Whatever is going on, it isn't good, and what long-term effect it will have on the world remains to be seen. So far, the connection between dimensions has been tenuous, and nothing has emerged from the rifts, but who knows what may happen as the problem worsens?
Due to Reiko living in Japan, her corner of the world would be the areas she haunts in Tokyo, with occasional visits to other major cities in Japan. Not much has changed, if anything the city has gotten a bit brighter than before due to more technology. Any interaction done here will net one a visit with her physical body, the petite young woman prone to flipping out and flipping tables. To access the astral she must project, and thus will always be in her projection body when using it.
