Bored - out of my tree...

Anyone ever wonder where that particular saying is derived from?

'Cause I am - bored out of my tree.

Had a 30min conversation with one of our agents as he got a car wash before showing some clients a few houses.  Beside that - it has been totally dead. Yawnsville. Drooling half asleep in the laptop boring.

And i have another hour to go......

Suspect it's British. First heard of it/read it in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Hmm...maybe someone got bored sitting in a tree and fell out? Aka 'bored out of my tree'? I"ve always wanted to know where the term 'happy as clams' came from. I mean, do we know if clams are really happy?
