Sometimes, old films will make a big deal out of something that that was a big deal back in its day, like interracial couples. Modern films sometimes feature interracial couples but they're no longer a big deal - they're just another unremarkable part of the contemporary cultural background. Daybreakers is set after a vampire apocalypse.

Land Of The Dead is set after the Zombie Apocalypse.

Equilibrium is set after a nuclear apocalypse (I think - it's vague on what the final war was.)

Me too.

Actually, the category would also include much of Philip K. Dick's 1960s work, in its original print form, though adaptations tend to play down that element. There tend to be offhand mentions of the heaps of radioactive slag that litter the American landscape.

James Cameron had a show, "Dark Angel", about a teen bike courier service, all of whom had been born after the US became a 3rd world country, and couldn't figure out why their parents were so upset.

Fido is set in a world that's back to "normal" after a zombie apocalypse.

As noted by another commenter, this also featured at the end of Shaun of the Dead.

Hi-larious. Easily one of my top 5 from 2006. To put it in The Player pitch-speak:

It's like Shaun of the Dead meets Pleasantville with Billy Connolly as Lassie/Older Yeller and Carrie-Anne Moss as Mrs. Cleaver.
