Blade Runner - you know, I have the weirdest relationship with this movie. I've seen it probably four or five times. And every time I watch it, it's like I've never seen it, which when you watch it, will seem bizarre as there are some pretty memorable things in it. I remember it being dark and rainy and sort of the plot, but it's as if I don't remember much else - and it's a very good film. I had to watch it (yet again!) for a screenwriting class last year, and I think it finally stuck because I was watching it for different things, but it's a very well-constructed film.

Oh, and I hadn't watched either Pulp Fiction or Fight Club until this past year - my film class made me promise to give them a try, and both were excellent. Disturbing, but good films, and I could see why they were influential.

I watched Fight Club shortly after it first came out, might watch it again this weekend when it comes on. I REALLY liked it. I hadn't been spoiled so the ending was a big "No F'ing WAY!" and made me rewatch the movie with eyes open and...wow. It's no wonder that movie is often quoted and has become such a part of pop culture because it has SO MUCH depth to it. I mean, I watched it cause I love both Brad Pitt and Edward Norton (as I mentioned above), but Tyler Durgan...he's beyond cool. Just...he's someone you wouldn't wanna meet in person, but to hear about him is to admire him, y'know?

Well, I discovered as I watched it that I evidently HAVE seen it before cause bits and pieces triggered my memory. And yes, it is. Though I read the IMDB trivia for it afterwards (habit of mine with ANY movie I watch), and read that evidently Ford's character Deckard was a replicant. At least, that's what Ridley Scott intended. Ford seems to disagree with him on this. In either case, I never got the impression he was a replicant. Just that, well, SOMETHING had happened in his past to make him, if not outright hate replicants, at least dislike them intensely. Which makes his relationship with Rebecca all the more complex.
I really liked it, though. For being an 80s movie, it wasn't bad.
