I'm sorry to hear that. If you want to email me the file, I can see if there's any way to recover it. It may be that the font isn't there any more or the header got corrupted or something crazy like that. I can look at the actual binary contents and see if there's anything there. The fact that the characters seem to still be there, but just appear as spaces is actually a good sign.

That's why I couldn't figure out how to help her, the file still showed as the same size even though it looked like no data was in it.

And it still shows all the stats. It's says it's a little over 184k words, a little over 2500 lines...I mean, it's absolutely confusing. I did everything I could think of to recover it.

Seriously? It might be possible to recover it? *glomps* If it is, you have my undying gratitude and love and loyalty FOREVER. Unfortunately, I'm at work at the moment. I'll email it once I get home. THANK YOU!

p.s. not an idiot. I can't name a single person that hasn't accidentally overwritten something important and irreplaceable. Things happen especially when computers start to malfunction.

Oh noes. *hugs* That sucks. Like majorly.

And yeah, I AM a compulsive saver. I save practically after every other sentence. Sometimes after every other WORD. Because I've had too many docs lost from not saving enough. So yeah, it was instinct. A day after the fact, I can look at what happened with a (slightly) calmer head and see that. Something was wrong so I saved.

*hugs* Thanks. And I CAN rebuild the list, to a degree anyway. At least with the most active fic I'm reading, so it's not a complete loss. Even found a new fic to add to the list, but it's gonna be posted so regularly (the author gave a schedule), I don't think I'll add it to the list.

While I still really kind of hate myself for that incident, I've been re-writing it and it's come out rather better, in my opinion. (In some ways. In others, it's severely lacking. But I suppose that's how it goes.)

Me too, now!
Calm head is a good thing.

No prob ^_^
Yay for being able to rebuild! (Somewhat!)

...I should probably start posting old fics... I just never update, so my readers, I think, would be rather... inflamed.

Rewrites do tend to come out better. I've noticed that with the few things I've had to rewrite for various reasons.

*nods* Yeah, I'm getting that.

Yeah, yays.

Yeah. I know how that is. My Atlantis series is kinda dead in the water. I've also got another series in another fandom (Final Fantasy) that I should finish. That's not even considering the new series I half-started.
