HUGS. Just because something wasn't discovered beforehand, doesn't make it invalid, babe. Hell, when I was in school, we barely knew what dyslexia even was, and No one had "ADD". They were just hyper and a pain in the ass. LOL With everything you've told me, it just makes the most sense. I still think you should check with a counselor or the tutoring center at campus and ask if they know of any testing options locally. Tell them you suspect but often have difficulties communicating with your doctor. It is not stupid or silly to acknowledge a difficulty and find the most effective way to work with it to your advantage. We know this stuff exists. We know how to help people who need it. We have legal protections in place to protect people from being treated unfairly. This is simply allowing you to have the same fair chance at education and daily function that any non-dyslexic would have.

I suppose that makes sense. I'll...well, after New Years, I'll talk with Seneca. And I'll ask around the campus, too. I just...it feels wrong to have done nearly 5 years of school, plus gone through 12 years of primary and had no special treatment, then come out suddenly when I appear to have difficulty with a course and say "yeah, that's cause of this. Do-over!" It just...it rankles me.

That makes perfect sense. Late diagnoses happen, especially if you think it's normal or if you were told you were a hypochondriac ( ... )

I guess that does make sense. And it sounds familiar, like I heard it before. I know I do that, if I'm reading and I'm expecting one word, even if it's not there...yeah. Huh.

Yeah, Meg's pretty smart. Wouldn't be where I am today without her poking and prodding me along. :)

Thanks. *hugs* Guess I will go see about being tested.

Yep. Not unusual or at all abnormal.

Good. It's always good to have those sorts of friends :)

Good good :)
Do post LJ with the results, I'd like to know how it turns out.
