i know some are going to disagree with this but it is important and if those in opposition of LGBT rights can get it in law that LGBT people cannot get married then expect more hard won rights and freedoms to be taken from us in the future. this includes the protections that we currently have against discrimination.

That was a great story. My parents are wiser and a bit more accepting of the changes in our society, yet they still have an issue with this. I truly do wonder what they would be like if I was gay. It makes me sad to see the homophobia so carved in to their being.

The only thing I fear is the pain of hated put upon anyone who comes out, how terrible to know that someone cannot be open and free.

yeah well i know personally the pain that the hatred of homophobia can cause. my parents disowned me and my brothers and sisters have also had a hard time accepting it at all and it is purely cos of religion. religion IMHO taken to the extremes is more often than not is i feel the root of all evil. i am not athiest. i have my own beliefs but would never push them on someone else as i feel that is wrong and also my path is most definately not for everyone. i have found it a very difficult path as it forces you to think not just of yourself but also of others as well and to control every single thought that goes through your head as if you think something nasty of someone it can manifest. scary especially when you don't actually wish harm on anyone and might just be having a case of the grumps.

It’s so nice to know that some people out there do understand and support gay marriage. Where I live it seems to be a shaky topic, and mostly people try to avoid thinking about it and creating a real opinion on the subject. I hate to hear the explanations of people that are against it, mostly because at some point it just becomes insulting to gay people.
So… in conclusion… I enjoyed the story :)

i am glad that you did:) there are too many around who prefer to put their heads in the sand and pretend that these things aren't going on but they are and we have to stand up and fight them if we want any hope of having any rights.
