LJ Idol - Week 8: My True North

The schedule of school and sports is relentless. Nobody wants to be the chatelaine. I repeat: Nobody wants to be the chatelaine. But you have to live somewhere and there just ( Read more... )

Seems like a well-timed visit. I can't imagine having such a palpable connection to family past and family future-it truly is wondrously beautiful how those bonds steady and steer you. Hoping the holiday season grants you that profound reprieve from the grind which you've earned a thousand times over!

Oh my friend! I miss climbing together so much. Elizabeth and I and sometimes Bo have been keeping the dream alive, but I’m physically just not kicking it very strongly these days. And the holiday blues have descended with a vengeance this year.

I wouldn't know what a visit from an ancestor would look like, but this is fun to imagine.

I feel the same way. I wonder so much what my ancestors would really think about so much of what’s happening now. We definitely live in interesting times.

Whoa, you’re a Tally person! Or a former Tally person now. I wonder if we ever met IRL? I’ve been in Tallahassee since 1996 if you count college. I see you have Florida High listed as a school- that’s where my daughters are and it’s actually where I am sitting as I type this waiting to hear their Winter concert.

We could only have met in Tallahassee if one of us had a time machine -- we missed each other by nearly a decade. I have been in MN since January of 1987. ;-) I only have FSU & FAMU on my LJ profile - are you looking at my FB profile?

I enjoyed this -- it was very creative. I loved the visit from the distant grandfather.

Thanks! I’ve been feeling that’s it’s a very Christmas past visitation kind of Holiday season.

I loved the way this seemed to pass from non-fiction into fiction, kind of like the nature of a reverie which would be inspired by real life. It also seemed like it really captured the spirit of a traditional winter's tale!

I liked this-- the tone, the visitation and the reweighing of the past and what it meant.

I hope friendships are helping to kick those blues a little. It's hard being overwhelmed. I know it too well.
