Humans were still idiots. As a race, they always had been. Crystalyne Regina hated that she’d had the bad luck to be born one of them. The fae had much more healthy and realistic perspectives, and on the whole were a lot more interesting. There was so very much in the universe that her fellow humans were always overlooking in favor of their own ( Read more... )

Whoa!! So much to unpack and sift through! This was just so lush; your characteristic artistry of painting natural settings became so electrifying when paired with a magic system chock full of its own eye candy. Crys was such an intriguing, compelling character. I felt like her worldview was so well-wrought, yet allowed space for the external reader to both sympathize and criticize. This is one of my favorite pieces of yours this season!

(and I do have to wonder if the ultra-shiny insta van-lifers are pulling on some of reality's strings here and there!)

Oh man, there was drama on some of the #vanlife social media that I follow over BLM issues last week, which made me realize that my nomadic heroes can be villains, too. And 2020 has been a humdinger of a year for people revealing short-sightedness in general. There just isn’t enough tiiiiiiime to adequately get everything on paper these days. And give everyone feedback. I really appreciate you giving such kind detailed feedback here!

The Snow Queen is one of my favorite fairy tales too, and I absolutely loved this!

Oh, I really liked the different, very modern twist on this fairy tale!

The disdain for humans (though she is human herself), the cold expediency of her choices (wealth first, then art), and this phrase says so much about her: than Crys’s precision passion had been.

"Precision passion"! Could it sound any more brutally unhuman and unrelated to the heart?

I loved that the blue-white hair in your partner's tale had a modern explanation here, and I loved how her obsession love of cold, beautiful places worked so well into the particular fairytale the two of you chose.

A wonderful and very successful intersection!

It's so fascinating to see the other side of this story. You rarely get to see inside the mind of the antagonist!

I'm glad I read me_sonrei's first, because I feel like it made me appreciate yours so much more. The little details like the blue-white hair and the rose and why Kai.

You both did a really great job, and I love how it turned out!
