The guy who runs the open mic at the comedy club made a suggestion to all the comics as to how to improve their writing skills and get in the practice of constantly writing. He calls it "The notebook challenge." The object is to write three pages a day for two weeks... any subject, doesn't even have to be funny. For instance, one of my planned ( Read more... )

This is actually out of a book called "The artists way" by Julia Cameron (I think). She calls it "Morning pages" and you should write it every morning after getting up, before you do anything else. Even if you don't know what to write you should write just that.

I have been doing this for several years now and it is amazing what stuff you can come up with. I do have days where I write three pages of "I don't know what do write about, I don't know what to write about, etc." and then I have three pages of potential novel material. It's amazing, it really is.

actually, that was an option. i think my first 2 pages were about writing in the notebook itself and if i liked the idea or not.

not until i went through a few friends pages and then saw your video post. i just got excited when i saw this in the first few entries on my friends page. ^_^;;

Yeah, you can blame me for that one, but it's the only reason I know how to spell Saturday. Oscar Mayer gets credit for b-o-l-o-gna.

I can still sing the preamble to the constitution too. If that doesn't bring up annoying memories, nothing will. ;)
