Ooh, let me think . . . the one place that I must recommend is called Boots and Kimo's, and it's this little hole in the wall in Kailua (130 Hekili St., to be precise . . . it's about a half hour north of Honolulu on the Pali Highway). They have these amazing pancakes with macadamia nut sauce . . . oh, and I also loved the fried rice omelette there.
Grand Cafe (31 N. Pauahi St.) also has amazing breakfasts. Be sure to order the Bananas Foster French Toast, if you go.
I also had a fantastic late night (post Hula's) breakfast at Big City Diner (3569 Waialae Ave.).
Wow, so far all I'm recommending is breakfast places . . . hmmm, I wonder why that is.
We LOVED Teddy's, a generic burger joint which is right beside Hula's. Part of our love might've been the proximity to our hotel and the gay bar, but the burgers and chicken sandwiches there really are well made.
I can't remember the names of some of the other restaurants, but I'll shoot a note to Josh and Jeff and get right back to you . . .
