It's that time once again, America. Greet your returning leader.

I don't want to spend too much time with my concern of Bush being given four more years to fuck us up, because you all know how i feel about the guy and what he does, and you all feel the same way for the most part.

But i do want to say this: I've been telling people i know, i know ( Read more... )

I completely agree that religion should be separate from the government. Although, then the questions or law and morality arise, and where are we to draw those from? A lot of religions are the same in their beliefs on how to treat another human being in every-day simple situations, ie) "do unto other as you would have them do unto you". Simple, general ( ... )

The government has the right idea; they want us to decide for ourselves. The problem arises in that we are just far too stupid to decide for ourselves sometimes. To use your examples, here in Michigan a proposal just passed that would make sure marriage can only be defined as "a union between a man and woman", leaving out any chance for a gay couple to tie the knot. We decided that, and it's our own fault for how ignorant and homophobic we are ( ... )

As for abortions, I've got a lot to say on that too ( ... )

Nope, i can't say that i do, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. I'm not necessarily a supported of abortions; i think they should be a last resort no matter what the circumstances. But sometimes a last resort is needed, so i do support the option. It's not like anyone ever wants to get an abortion; i have enough faith in our country to use that procedure only when absolutely necessary. If that 1 in 3 statistic is true, yes, that's sick. But i don't think that will ever happen here.

The bottom line is, no matter how you feel about abortions yourself, they will not simply stop happening. There will always be abortions. Always. The option is whether you want them safe and legal or not. I'd prefer safe and legal anyday, because i'd much rather an unborn fetus die than a person that has a life and a family and a reason to live.

you and justin of the connoisseurs of finding random shit about how much a shitpile we're in. keep up the good work because for the most part, you are my news source, which seems like it could lead to a bit of a bias. i can't believe that: the on finger victory salute... what the fuck has America gotten itself into ( ... )

Gentlewoman, actually.

But anyway, about laws being based on christian ethic, i say this: No! Every culture (whether religion plays a part or not) has a set of moral obligations, and the majority of them were before anyone had every heard of some guy called Christ. The native americans had much the same rules we live by today (except that we're a hell of a lot more lax about killing things, and probably worse off for it). And, now that i think about it, wasn't it the pilgrims, the guys trying to get away from such strict christian ties, that started this country in the first place?

I'm just saying, you do not need religion to have morals, and our constitution was not drafted with Jesus in mind.

wait... do you mean that our laws aren't based on christian ethic? because if so, yes, yes they are. but if you mean that you wish they weren't yes, i agree.

p.s. sorry, i saw the icon, and it was a guy...i assumed

Does Bush honestly not know how to pronounce ironic or nuclear?? I am sorry that you have a fucking moron for your leader.

Although I can't say too terribly much about Martin, either... and we think the 3rd world is in trouble?
