Even if Only:

My class, that is, the class of 2005, has chosen Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful World" as the official "class song" which i'm told will be played at both prom and graduation. Now, i realize that our class song could have been horrendous. My generation is a huge fan of pop punk and commercialized hip hop, two of the most ridiculous genres in music ( Read more... )

Kyle, you are amazing. You are great.

And I love this because it is ever so true,
Why can't people be aware that there is more music in the world then what's shoved in their face?
I sympathise with your frusteration; I really do :(

Our grad class is going through this with the guest speaker for our ceremony.
We have the opportunity to bring in this fantastic speaker - Jack Whyte, author of several medieval fantasy books, who is just a brilliant, brilliant speaker - but of course, who would want some AUTHOR whom they don't know to speak at their grad ceremony?
That's just not cool.

Your comments are always so cool. Thanks for consistantly bringing the coolness to my comment section.

Good luck with Mr. Whyte. Good speakers are rare. Or at least, that's the impression i've gotten from the few i've seen.

Always, always you say the things I want to say, only infinately better put - only maybe not this time, which makes me feel better.
because that is exactly what YOUR comments are to me - so cool and I like them a lot.

wow, we are definately cool.

but no such luck with the speaker - we have some no-name substitute teacher.

its true there isn't too many people that have anything bad to say about the postal service, i do have to say in a sense they are genius! then again "its a wonderful world" is a classic and not a bad song... i do have to admit i have a louis armstrong and ella fitzgerald cd from when i was like 8 haha, and its not that bad.

I've got nothing against Louis Armstrong. Or even Wonderful World. I just wish if someone thought a Louis Armstrong song would be a good idea, they would have picked something more appropriate for our class, instead of just "whatever people have heard to death already".

Oh give me a break. You get pissed when people talk about music you don't like, which is pretty much everything. It's a little bit different.

But yeah, yeah.... yeah.

I'm listening to a raw awful demo of Grinding Halt and picturing this at Prom and Graduation and the satisfaction only David would get out of it. But if David's happy, why bother with the rest?

David is happy for about 3% of the day, so yeah, his happiness is totally more important than anyone else's.

I went to the meeting and tried to get Bohemian Rhapsody. I don't know how that falls on your music shoved in people's faces category, but I imagine it's right next to the only Louis Armstrong song anyone knows. Afterwards I wished I would've petitioned for Baba O'Reily by The Who; also very commercialized, but utterly intense and I like it.

I don't know how i'd feel about Bohemian Rhapsody. On one hand, it's infinitely more obvious than any Louis Armstrong song, but on the other hand, it is Bohemian Rhapsody...

No, i'd probably hate that too. But not as much.

I think it is one of the most epic songs of the last 30 years.
