I should add that I currently have a cold and I heard it! Doesn't make you young.

I can hear it, but I could also tell when someone had left my old television on (with the sound off) from the same noise.

OW! GAH! Damn, that's disorienting.

I used to think Sears sounded like that. I always wanted to sit outside in the mall to stay away from it, and my parents thought I was crazy. I figured it had to do with bad lighting or badly-engineered PA systems, but since *all* Searseses sounded like that, my guesses didn't hold a lot of water. Maybe they were doing it on purpose.
