There are ways und means, but they tend to be expensive. Unless you know an ubergeek who could do it for you, you'd have to go with a shop. The one I saw that advertised recovery did it at $85, but I'm not entirely sure how the fee is applied, i.e. per so many gigabyte, or per hour of technician time?
Suck0rz. Hope days get better, soon.

And after you read this comment, do NOT do anything else on the computer until you take it in to get recovered! Not a thing! I read about this once, and I'm not sure if I'm recounting the details perfectly, but when stuff gets deleted on your computer, some of that data still remains and can be recovered. But everytime you use your computer, the new data that's being processed saves over a little of the old data that's being stored. Or something. But stop using your computer immediately!

Yeah, it remains until written over, which is what formatting is, in a sense. Unless things went really fubar. ;)

I already feel like he is partly to blame for things stuffing up in the first place and I asked him not to do anything with the computer cuz a) he doesn't know what he is doing. b) someone might be able to fix it but not if we've been using it.
Men never listen. so pissed off.

And then it looks like it has been deleted. When u reinstall windows there might be a good chance u have like 80-90% left of the previous install. Deleting is actually overwriting bytes and that will happen over time... Don't touch and go on a installing rampage and check this link:
