I feel really out of touch with current events right now. I try to read the news headlines at least once a day, but I've just sort of gone numb with apathy. I don't care about Hillary vs. Obama at the least. I'm pretty sure I'm pro-Obama, but all the bickering just gets me down

personal thoughts:

marriage should be a religious/symbolic/philosophical arrangement determined by whatever group or ideology or institution with which you associate yourself.

the legal aspect of a union should be the part the government is interested in, and it should consist of things like power of attorney, parental rights, inheritance, tax stuff, etc.

when you separate, you know, church and state, i think it helps focus the question. i'm not quite sure what that means for polygamy, but it comes down to what is the function of that contract?

I completely agree actually, I hope that's what I conveyed, but i had to finish quickly before class last night. I meant more on parental rights, but I think this case is really difficult being they are such an ostracized group with a history of incest and underage marriages, I don't know though... It was more my musings on the matter.

we talked about this case in my spanish class (of all places) and is it true they cannot find the girl who actually placed the 911 call? it's sad/scary.
