i had a tounge ring for like.. ehh.. 3-4 years (I just took it out, job hunting and all), and if you wear a plastic ring, then you don't break your teeth. That's what I did and I'm the only one at the dentist office not to have broken or chipped or cracked my teeth from it.

It's dooable.
