Because of fucking budget cuts apparently. End of the financial year and all that shit. Real great, especially considering F/O is fucking understaffed as it is with me taking a lot of damn work off them, such as covering reception when ever with no complaints about having to do it (I might rant about the people I have to deal with out there, but I don't complain about having to go do it) and dealing with the post, doing CPH applications and just general helping out. Kicker is that the busiest time of the year is starting next month and it's already hectic. Having one of them have to come off the phones to cover switchboard or another to do post (the scanning department says "do not do the post when you're on the phone! it leads to mistakes!" like there's much of a fucking choice) means that half as many calls being taken and even more irrate farmers. I certainly agree with everyone else in F/O, management doesn't give a flying fuck about them.
Shit, that sucks. My local council is at least keeping me on till the end of June (that may be because I do all the grunt work without complaining, but whatever).
I think it's a shitty time for jobs overall this year. Budget cuts, lay offs, early retirement, you name it. Hope you find something quick though, dude.
I do too, though I expect there's gonna be an even bigger drought of jobs around here soon now that Kwik Save is closing, the Welsh Office is 'restructuring' and such. More people unemployed and less jobs to go around :(
They are restructuring the whole of agriculture in the National Assembly for Wales so therefore removing those who are expendable they dont have to worry about finding the right kind of job titles and role for you. oh yeah and the budget cuts also come into it.
Goats to be precise. Are you even getting any severance pay out of them, or is it just your walking papers and a twist of the ol' knife in the back? They owe you something for time served. Even criminals get this benefit.

Nope, no severence pay as it wasn't a perminant contract, just two weeks notice and letter. Everyone in the office is sad to see me go, but there's nothing any of them can do, not even the line managers and HEOs, hell, doubt even the head of branch himself could do anything. I'm on a temp contract, so I'm gone just like everyone else on temp contracts. Restructuring my arse. Bloody beurocracy.
