Top 5 works maligned at the time of release that have since gained fanfare, but you feel people were right about the first time around

and/or

works that gained a great deal of acclaim at the time you feel have been unfairly overshadowed by disdain since then

i tried to watch wet hot american summer the other night and had to turn it off after like 15 minutes. the funniest thing about it was the fact that bradley cooper (who speaks fluent french, btw.... google it its weird) was cast as amy poehler's BF. with you on zabriskie point too. the weezer record was only appluaded once we started riding the ok computer wave and looking out for mainstream rockets who were self-aware in an indie way. which is to say it was overapplauded because, unlike candlebox or whatever, weezer was a band made up of dudes who probably owned unwound records and crap like that. as an album, to me it's listenable in the same way that all weezer is listenable. they're like the tom petty of alternarock.

I wish there were more people that responded to this!! I am not smart enough to think of a good list. Your Pinkerton inclusion is funny because there are definitely some super shitty songs on that album and no one is willing to admit it (see: "Getchoo", "The Good Life", "Butterfly", etc.) unless you already hate Weezer in the first place.
