so my RA called the head resident staff person in charge of Bice (the building where i live), to tell her we need a new/recharged fire extinguisher after friday's little adventure. her response ( Read more... )

You've got to get to a fire within the first two minutes to prevent serious structural damage. After that point, you've just got to get out.

We had a little toaster fire one night at the Academy. It was just a little minor damage control exercise, in a way...

Don't forget to ground CO2 extinguishers... they can create static electricity and shock you when they discharge.

right. which means use the fire extinguisher, don't wait 5 or 10m for the fire dept.
