Mostly Harmful:Part Three (Doctor Who/HGTTG ficlet)
They all stopped to listen as the captain of the ship told the crew that he found a pair of Hitchhikers on board and that they were about to jump into hyperspace. After the voice had finished they all looked to see Arthur curled up on the floor. He smiled weakly.
“Charming man.” He said. “I wish I had a daughter so I could forbid her to marry one...”
“You wouldn’t need to,” said Ford. “They got as much sex appeal as a road accident.”
“Oh god, it’s like word for word from the text.” Donna whispered but just loud enough for the Doctor to hear.
“I know, best part though is that they don’t know that.” The Doctor whispered back. “You see Douglas Adams didn’t know that he wrote a true story.”
“What the earth has really been destroyed in the past?” Donna asked not being able to contain the whisper.
“Only in a parallel universe.” The Doctor whispered harshly. “Also we are travelling through hyperspace right this minute or to be precise we have just stopped.”
“Sorry, but how do you know who I am?” Arthur interrupted, groaning loudly.
“Oh don’t worry about that Arthur Dent, I really don’t want to spoil it.” The Doctor replied with a grin.
“Ok then who’s the face of boe?” Arthur asked.
“Oh let’s just say he’s an old friend of mine who apparently doesn’t exist. If his current incarnation found out he would be livid.” He replied trying not to laugh. “I still can’t believe he will end up as a head in a jar.”
“Sorry but who will?” Donna asked.
The Doctor was about to answer when he heard a groan coming from the back of the Tardis. Puzzled he walked around to the back and noticed a figure lying outstretched on the floor. As he got closer the figure jumped up and gasped for breath.
“Hello Captain.” The Doctor said with a sort of angry smile.
