Chapter Sixteen
Emmett
He pulled back and looked into my eyes. I’d always loved his soft blue eyes as they always gave off a friendly vibe. They were so inviting that I had to fight off the lustful thoughts in my head. Right now I knew that he was probably reading my mind, he had told me about the telepathy when I had caught him staring at me one night before he went to bed. For some reason I didn’t freak out as I knew a solder who was telepathic.
“What am I thinking?” I asked with a smile.
“I don’t know,” James replied innocently, “So what did you mean by dancing?”
I chuckled, “I meant holding you in my arms while Glenn Miller plays softly in the background or even Cole Porter if you want, and it’s up to you.”
“God I love you,” He said again with a smile, “Ok I’ve said it again but....”
“It’s alright, I just know how to comfort someone,” I told him with a smile, “I’m not a flirting machine like Captain Jack Harkness is,” I added which made him burst out into laughter.
“So you’re an old fashioned type of guy then?” He asked through laughter.
“Yes, I like to take things slow,” I replied with a smile before taking his hand, “With you though it’s going to take awhile, I just want to see you smile for now.”
He smiled the most beautiful smile I ever seen and for some reason I started to sing.
“I’ve got you under my skin,” I sang softly while pulling him close to me, “I’ve got you deep in the heart of me,”
That song was a favourite of mine and the words seemed to come to me naturally as I held James tight in my arms while we danced. Cole Porter certainly was a genius as this was what I felt about him. He certainly knew how to write a love song.
“So deep in my heart that you’re really a part of me,” I sang into his hair, “I’ve got you under my skin,”
“You love the song don’t you?” James asked with a smirk.
“I’d sacrifice everything come what might, for the sake of having you near,” I replied, still singing.
James laughed and pulled back, “I’m sorry Jack really needs to talk to me, a raincheck?”
“I’ll be here when you come back,” I replied with a smile, “Whenever that will be.”
James nodded and kissed me lightly on the cheek.
He really was a beautiful human being.
