Town and Country is a magazine. It seems to be big on "proper" decorum and etiquette.

Perhaps they mean for you to wear clothes that are acceptable up to the fashion standards of that magazine for whatever occasion you are dressing for...

It is within the bounds of good etiquette to call and politely ask for clarification if you're not sure what it means.

Oh, and before you start wondering when I became Miss Manners, I didn't. I just did a google search for the info.

Town and Country Dress Code: Dresses, skirts, or appropriate pantsuits. No denim or jeans please.

Sounds like "business casual" (emphasis on business) to me...

yeah, I found that actually.

Since that event was December, and this will be in the heat of June I have the scary idea slacks may be required.

If I ask it will have to be by e-mail, and I don't expect a timely reply.
