Notes (Please read!): Okay, after thinking things through for a really long time, the fic is back. During it's absence, i had come to realize the flaws of the path i chose. And as a person, i had decided to stick to it. I had become aware of the possibility of hurting(or making readers sad to say the least) which was the last thing a writer of such genre could wish for of. But i wouldn't want to hold myself back either. My goal was originally to make people happy, and it remains that way. Now, i would like to warn you guys, if you are a huge fan of KaoxToshiya and doesn't like the idea of DiexToshiya or VISE VERSA, i won't suggest any of you to continue reading this. The choice is up to you, if your bet wouldn't end up together it wouldn't be my fault since i gave you a choice. But i won't say im not at fault here, im aware that i should have said this earlier, but i was a noob to begin with, im sorry. Lastly, This fic is wrtten to make people happy, now, to make open-minded people happy. What im trying to say is, this is written for those people who are willing to explore the extent of both parings, who are willing to stay with me till the end of this fic, no matter what happens. And im thanking those people(if they're still there) in advance. All i could promise is to continue this with the best of my abilities.
AS for the real 'notes': non-beta'd. new characters will be introduced in this chappie~^_^
other works... Chapter 7
A tall honey blonde-haired boy was hiding behind a tree, holding a newspaper to obscure his face. He wore sunglasses to hide his identity even more. From time to time, he’d pop his head out of the newspaper, expecting to have a glimpse of a particular someone. He sighed, looked at his watch, and sighed again; it had been twenty minutes since he took that position behind the tree, waiting for that someone. I shouldn’t waste my time. I must even out my plan while he hasn’t arrived. Right! He clenched his fist and unconsciously dropped the newspaper.
“I’ll keep a close eye on him, then, I’ll execute my plan as soon as Toshiya disappears from the picture! Way to go Uruha!!” He threw his fist up, not realizing he said it out loud until he noticed every student passing by was looking at him.
“Who are you talking to? Don’t tell me you’ve got a new target.” A brunette with a pierced lip heading towards the school building stopped in front Uruha.
“A… A... Aoi!” He stuttered, his face turning crimson.
“Get going or you’ll be late for our class.” As if he didn’t see anything, he continued walking with his hands in his pockets. ”And,” He said without turning or even tilting his head. “don’t expect me to save your ass this time.” He finished coldly.
---
“Had the culprit shown any sign?” Toshiya asked eagerly as they made their way to their classroom, smiling back at everyone who greeted him a good morning smile. As time goes by, his schoolmates had learned that he isn’t as untouchable as they thought he is; their used to be unreadable stares were now gone.
“Huh?” The red head confusedly replied.
“The letter! The letter! The one you got yesterday!” The shorter of the two said impatiently, tugging the sleeve of Die’s shirt.
“Easy there, Totchi.” Die teased. “I have an idea who he is, but I’m not that sure.”
“Tell me! Tell me!” Toshiya insisted, tugging Die’s shirt harder.
The red head shook his head, “You’ll find out sooner or later.” and grinned, leaving a pouting Toshiya behind.
---
“I’ll wait for you here.” The red head leaned against the wall along the restroom where Toshiya disappeared to. He had his arms crossed in front of his chest and his head bowed down while he was patiently waiting. Then suddenly, a pair of feet came into view just in front of his. He slowly lifted his head and said, “I knew it was you.” without making extra movements.
“Were you waiting for me?” Uruha asked enthusiastically. His face was very close to Die’s while both of his palms rested on both sides of the other’s head
“No.” The red head replied frostily.
Playing hard to get, eh? “Are you free this Saturday?”
“No.”
Uruha’s hands fell down on his sides as he stepped back and pouted. “Why are you so cold?”
“Yeah! Why are you so cold…” A voice coming from behind interrupted.
The two turned their head to the owner of the voice, which was none other than, Toshiya.
“… especially towards a beautiful young boy?” Toshiya continued as he stood behind the mentioned boy and put a hand on his shoulder.
Die only managed to shake his head and smirk as a reply for he was totally out of words. He grabbed Toshiya by the hand and tried to drag him. “Let’s go, break is almost over.”
The blue head tightened his grip on the younger boy’s shoulder as he whispered, “Don’t give up just yet, here.” He slipped his calling card in Uruha’s hand. “Call me.” He grinned, though the boy couldn’t see it, and allowed himself to get dragged by Die.
---
Kaoru tapped his fingers on his desk as he switched his gaze from the wall clock hanging above the blackboard to the door and to the seat at the other corner of the room. It’s almost time for class. He scratched his head as he got up. “It’s boring, I’m going out.” He uttered in a low voice. When he was a few steps away from the door, a foot suddenly stamped on his. Why does this happen very often lately? He sighed heavily.
The boy trembled as he stood frozen in front of Kaoru. He tried to take a step back but when the other spoke, he froze again.
“This must be your day; I’m not in a bad mood so I’ll let it slip.” By the time Kaoru finished his sentence, Toshiya and Die appeared in his view, hand in hand. “I’m taking it back, I’m in a bad mood.” He knitted his eyebrows as his eyes landed on the entangled hands as he whispered to the boy.
“What are you lookin’ at?” Toshiya spitted out then shifted his eyes to where the purple head were set. He hastily pulled his hand as soon as he realized he was still holding hands with Die. “Are you disgusted?” He raised an eyebrow.
The boy took the time to run away from the purple head.
“Very much disgusted.” Kaoru lied icily. He knew he didn’t hate the other boy that much. It was just that his attitude towards Toshiya comes off naturally and he can’t help it.
It took the pretty boy a couple of moments to put together Kaoru’s word. As soon as the idea hit his mind, his supposed to be unyielding confidence went crushing down his feet. He had heard that line a lot of times before, but it never affected him even one bit. Why? Toshiya questioned his feelings, questioned his pain. His breathing got ragged, his knees got week, crystal tears started to form in the corner of his eyes. He turned on his back with his eyes shut. He was about to run but then bumped on someone. “Die.” He cried out, knowing full well who it was, shaking his head on the red head’s chest. “I don’t like this. Take me away, please.” He pleaded.
Die slowly wrapped his arms around Toshiya, wanting to make him feel secured. One of his hands gently rubbed the other’s back to hush him down then slowly snaked its way to his hand and gripped it tightly. “Come on.”
“Where are we goin’?” Toshiya asked with a tinge of excitement in his teary eyes. The red head didn’t reply but just gave him a smile before dragging him. As much as he wanted to leave that very moment, he couldn’t, because another hand held his free one on the wrist not so loosely. “Let go.” He ordered the purple head without facing him, returning the same iciness in his voice. “Let go.” He repeated when the other didn’t let go nor say anything but only gripped his wrist tighter which made it hurt. Finally, he turned to face the purple head. “Do you really have to hurt me twice?”
With that, Kaoru absentmindedly loosen his grip on Toshiya. The two disappeared in front of him before he even noticed.
---
During noon time, busses weren’t as packed as they were in the morning. There weren’t a lot of people rushing off to work or class.
Toshiya sat beside the window at the right side of the bus while Die was beside him, taking the seat at the isle. “Why are we on a bus?” Toshiya asked lifelessly, his head leaning on the red head’s shoulder.
“I suddenly wanted you to experience a normal high school life.”
“Normal?” Toshiya tore his head from die’s shoulder to give him a questioning look. “Do I not look normal to you?” He pouted.
Patting Toshiya’s head, Die said, “That’s more like the Toshiya I know.” and grinned.
“You’re treating me like a kid!” The blue head pouted deeper, crossed his arms in front of his chest and faced the window.
The taller boy stretched his left arm to reach Toshiya’s face, cupping his smooth cheek to bring his head back on his shoulder. “I’m sorry” was all he said before complete yet comfortable silence enveloped them.
---
The afternoon classes had been boring without the usual interruptions by Toshiya. The atmosphere had totally gone from lively to gloomy. Some of the students had found Toshiya’s intrusions more interesting than the class itself. Some had been past asleep, including a particular blonde. The teachers have tried different strategies to cheer the students up to no avail.
“Okay, I give up.” Yoshiki-sensei sighed heavily. “Since everyone doesn’t want to cooperate with me for this lesson, I’m dismissing you earlier today.” He stopped at the sudden change of mood of the students, they cheered up within a blink of an eye. “But,” He continued cutting through the noise. “additional homework for everyone.”
---
Lights of different colors were everywhere, giving the entire place a lively and fun atmosphere. The starry dark sky above only made the bright lights more attractive; the perfect moment in an amusement park.
“Thanks for bringing me here!” Toshiya exclaimed with a crooked smile while sitting side by side with Die in a Ferris wheel. One of his arms was hugging a little brown teddy bear Die had won for him.
“Anything for you, princess.” Die teased, grinning.
The pretty boy let out a ‘hmp’ sound. “I’m being serious!” He shoved the bear up on the red head’s face, causing the other to struggle as if he was drowning. And since Toshiya wasn’t one to suppress a laugh, the whole compartment was filled with his sweet laughter which eventually caused his stomach to ache and gasp for air.
Die didn’t say a word as he laughed along when Toshiya absentmindedly dropped the bear on his lap. Moments later, the laughter finally died down. “I haven’t laughed that much for a long time.”
“Me too!” The blue head replied, still trying to catch his breath. “I can’t believe how stupid I’ve been!” He quickly covered his face with his hands, totally embarrassed about his earlier deed, and dropped them just as quick to continue speaking; or ranting more likely. “I didn’t know what happened! It sure wasn’t the first time I had someone telling me such thing, but I never reacted like that before. I’d normally kick the person’s ass in return, not literally though.” He paused for a while to catch his breath because he was talking rather high pitched. “But,” he seemed to hesitate, “it was different coming from him. And I don’t know why.”
The red head put a hand on top of Toshiya’s which was resting on the space between them. “You’re never alone in this.” He grabbed the back of Toshiya’s neck to pull him closer as he leaned, closing the gap between their foreheads. “You can always turn to me when things get worse.”
The blue head smiled as sweet as usual. “I know, and you just proved it. Thanks again for today.” When Die had finally released his hold of him, he sat comfortably with his side facing the other. “I’ve been holding back all this time, I was a bit scared of how people would react if I show them who I really am, but not anymore.” He grinned sheepishly.
---
Aoi pushed the doorbell then shoved his hands back in his pocket, patiently waiting for the door to open.
“Hey.” Reita greeted casually as he opened the door. “It’s been a while, what brought you here?” He asked but the brunette didn’t bother to reply. “Come in.”
“You alone?” Aoi inquired as he eyed every corner of the house.
“Yeah, they’re still at work.”
Aoi slowly nodded as a response as he settled himself on the couch. “He’s at it again.” He stated straightforwardly.
“Uruha?” The blonde received another nod.
Uruha, Aoi and Reita had been childhood friends. They used to be very close to each other to the point that they won’t mind exchanging under wears. But everything changed when they started to mature. They started to drift away from each other little by little. Aoi had busied himself with music, particularly his guitar; Reita had found new friends when he had entered high school; Uruha, neither of the other two knew what he got himself into.
“What are you going to do? Any plans?”
Aoi shook his head. “That’s why I’m here.”
“You know I’m not one to run to when it comes to that.”
“But who else am I supposed to solve this problem with?”

It was already past midnight but Kaoru still was still wide awake. The unpleasant incident had been on his mind ever since it happened. He had been wondering what was with Toshiya’s weird reaction, what was with his own reaction. He raised a hand in front of his face; the same hand that had held Toshiya’s. He flipped his hand a couple of times, examining it, thinking it was responsible for his weird action.
He could still remember how piercing Toshiya’s eyes were. As a matter of fact, the image never left his mind even for a second. He had tried shutting his eyes tightly and buried his face under the pillow, but still, the blue head’s piercing eyes remained carved on his head. He was clueless as to how those eyes could look piercing, sad, hurt and beautiful at the same time.
All of a sudden, Kaoru recalled how fragrant the pretty boy was; back when he had fell down on the floor with him. He slowly closed his eyes, trying to remember how sweet the scent was. The scent was childish yet mature. He inhaled deeply, closing his eyes in the process. He was hallucinating beyond his knowledge.
The sound of a glassware breaking cut Kaoru’s train of thoughts. He grunted as he noticed where his thoughts have driven off to. What was I thinking?! He took a pillow and threw it then hit his bed with both fist alternately. The purple head continued cursing under his breath while rolling like a fish stranded on the shore.
The sound of clattered glass brought him back to earth, reminding him that there’s something much more important he should attend to. Kicking off the blanket tangled in his feet, he felt a bit nervous. What could it be at this time of night-er, morning? He took a baseball bat hidden under his bed before walking out of his room. He strode the hall way like a ghost, not wanting whoever it was to be aware of his presence.
It was dark since he didn’t bother to turn on any light along the way. He reached the kitchen and sensed something in motion. He could only make out the silhouette of a man with disheveled hair crouching on the floor. He positioned the bat in his hands, preparing to hit the man. After gather enough courage, which was less than a second, he lunged the bat towards the figure.
“Ouch.” The suspect mumbled coldly, as if he didn’t mean it.
Kaoru stopped when the bat was centimeters away from the man’s body when he heard a familiar voice. “Kyo?” He called out through the dark.
“Yes?”
The taller one sighed heavily. “You scarred the hell out of me.” He stated as he headed to the direction of this light’s switch, still with the bat in his hand. Once the kitchen was lit, he found the blond sucking his finger. “What happened?”
“The glass slipped off my hand.” The blonde continued picking up the shattered pieces of glass by hand. “Did I wake you up?” he asked with his back facing Kaoru.
“No.”
“So you were still awake then?” A slight grin crept up his face.
“Yeah.”
“It’s very late, why are you still up? Someone…” He coughed “I mean something particular in your mind?”
“What? Ah… I… No…” Kaoru panicked as if he was caught in the act of doing a crime. “I was… working on the music project! Right! I was working on the music project.”
Kyo nodded in response then got up as he was done picking up the glasses. He threw it in the trash bin then washed his bloody hands.
Kaoru was used to Kyo’s weird execution of things so he didn’t bother to say a word to the other about it. “I’m going back to bed.” He said waving his hand in the air though the blonde couldn’t see him.
“Just talk to him and you can say hello to peaceful night again.” Kyo said in a low voice just after the purple head disappeared behind the door, not really caring if the other heard him or not.
