I have never posted this anywhere, nor even written it down before. I am teaching my students about personal narratives, and wanted a sample of descriptive writing. So I decided to finally put this together, and decided to share it here. I don't think even my parents have ever heard the whole story. You know how they say time slows down during a tragedy? It doesn't. This all happened very fast... but I have reviewed it so many times in my mind, over and over, that I could explain every single nanosecond. That makes it unforgettable.

YEOUCH! I've had several accidents, thankfully nothing remotely so severe. Glad you came out the other side OK!

Most of me, anyway. I have reduced use of my left hand, and heavy scarring from the elbow down. It makes kendo rather interesting, as I am constantly criticized for my hand position.

Understandable! For me, my right hand would be problematic. It lacks rotation at the wrist, and my R shoulder has a partially torn rotater cuff that will probably need surgical work in a few years.

Your arm scarring probably would beat my hand scarring from six operations, I'd guess, but I'll bet you don't have a cool chest scar from pediatric heart surgery! ;-)

That I don't. But I do have a leaky aortic valve, so I may have one before long...
