[RP] It gets hard, but it won't take away my love... [Mathias]

"But I'm having such fun here," he murmurs. Forgive him, Gwen, he's tired from hardly sleeping since you got sick. He nuzzles into her hair a bit and lets out a long sigh. "Seriously. I'm fine."

He's just, y'know, slowly shattering inside the sicker she gets. No big.

"Your definition of fun is a little twisted," she murmurs, and twists a little to press her face into his neck. It's a little too warm for comfort, but being close to him is a little more important right now than physical comfort. "Either that, or... you're kind of a masochist. And not in the fun way."

"That was a little bit of sarcasm, Gwennie," he says, chuckling a little. "But I'd rather be here. Honest."

Here, y'know, making sure she doesn't die while he's off taking a shower, getting some food, that sort of thing. Basically, there's no way he's leaving her side at all, not until she's either dead or out of the woods.

He's hoping for the latter, but honestly expecting (and dreading) the former.

"Rhys used to call me Gwennie," she says softly. At this point, she's just saying the first things that come to mind - her head's too fuzzy to stop them, or to think of anything else to say.

She's about to say something more, but a stabbing pain in her chest interrupts her as she draws the breath to speak, and she ends up coughing against he's shoulder, nasty, hoarse coughs that feel like her lungs must be tearing apart inside. They subside at last with a soft, unthinking little whimper of pain.
