A Night Out at the Pub

Jan 05, 2011 16:02

Surprisingly, Jack had insisted on a specific pub they rent out, and Ianto had stepped back and let him do so. Jack knew the owner, had been going there for years (and years and years), and so he could get the place cheap and quickly and still have the quality service that they wanted. And for an occasion like this one, quality was a must ( Read more... )

A small crash and Merlin groaned as he stood up. "Ok, need to learn how to land better." He looked around, waving at Sulu and Ianto before looking around at his surroundings. It looked like a tavern. Smelled like one. There were already people here and Merlin kept to the walls, enjoying just being around people who weren't from Camelot.

Ianto watched the other man appear, and went over to see that he was alright. "Gosh," he said, smiling at the other man. "That was quite an entrance there, Merlin. I hope the place wasn't too hard to find." However he'd gotten there, that was.

He dusted himself off and smiled at Ianto. "No worries. It isn't the worst injury I'll ever see. Sorry I'm a bit late. Arthur kept adding more and more chores as the day wore on." He looked around. "Are all these people from the community?"

Ianto looked around and nodded. "Yeah," he said, with a smile, "they are. All attached to the community in some way or another. You should go and say hello to them, if you like. They're all really very nice people."

Sulu, who had arrived in his usual good mood, was pretty quick to make his rounds saying hello to the people he didn't actually work with on a daily basis. It wasn't as though he didn't talk to most of the people at this get-together, Starfleet or not, but the fact that they were all together in a sort of party setting made the interaction that much more enjoyable. First, he'd get a drink, and then he could probably settle down and see how the night went.

Ianto smiled at the other man, waving him over to the table he was sitting at. "Hey, there," he said, smiling broadly and standing up to greet him (with a hand on his shoulder--he wasn't quite sure how to treat this whole thing in front of other people, not yet anyway). "You're looking pretty posh as well." Considering most of the time he'd seen Sulu lately, he'd been wearing his pajamas, or his uniform, or well...less than that. "You like the pub? Jack picked it out, if you can believe it."

Sulu wasn't sure how they should be doing greetings either, exactly, but a hand on the shoulder wasn't quite enough for him, so he leaned in for a brief hug and a surreptitious kiss on the jaw, something easy enough to hide. "Yeah, well, I figured I should try actually wearing something decent for this," he said with a grin, looking over the venue himself despite the fact that he'd already done so before. "And I'm not too surprised, honestly. Jack's the one with the connections, after all, right?"

Ianto blushed at the hug and the kiss on the jaw, but. He couldn't say that he really minded, at all. Besides, all the people that were in there with them, none of them would have cared if they'd looked over and happened to spot them in that moment. Although that didn't stop the blush from forming.

"Yes, well," he said, smirking. "Connections, yes. Taste, on the other hand, is something in which sometimes Jack is sorely lacking, so. I'm glad he got it right this time, though."
