[It's been a long enough time that John feels it's safe to call Ianto. He hadn't wanted to be on him every day about his health, and he knows more than anything that Ianto had needed some time to both recover and to get into the swing of things again - and, of course, there's the ever-present Sherlock Holmes he's had to deal with. He feels a little guilty for giving Sherlock precedence over Ianto's health, but. Well, it came with being the man's flatmate.

Still. Now is a good a time as any to give Ianto a call, which is exactly what John's doing.]

[Ianto checks the phone's caller ID and, seeing that it's John, quickly excuses himself from where he's sitting with Sulu on the sofa in his flat, gingerly making his way up the stairs as quickly as he can without winding himself, making it to his bedroom before shutting the door behind himself and hitting the receive button]

John. Hi. Sorry, I. I was downstairs, had to step out of the room to pick up.

[The delay's nothing to John, who's used to texting over calls anyway, so he just takes the excuse smoothly.] Of course, no problem. I'm sorry I haven't called since I left, I've been kept a bit busy over here, but I wanted to check in, see how things are. [There's a pause, there, because that would be Ianto's cue to tell him how things are, exactly.]
