I'm excited. :) This idea of an orchestral tour is really intriguing to me. And really hoping that she'll announce the US tour dates soon so that I can decide which shows it'll be possible for me to get to!
At first I was a bit upset that it wasn't going to be new songs but as I keep thinking about it I don't feel like it's that big of a deal. Tori's repertoire is huge already and her more recent albums (besides Night of Hunters - I'm still eating that up) didn't really strike a chord with me.
I love this concept, though - it's right up my alley. And if it's giving me another release of Snow Cherries From France, I can die happy. I'm just sad that I won't be in her touring range for this tour since it's something I'd love to see live.
I agree with everything you said, minus Night of Hunters, which I still haven't been able to make it all the way through. I haven't really *loved* anything since Scarlet's Walk, believe it or not. :\ But I think new orchestral arrangements of some old classics might be pretty awesome. Here's hoping!
I suspect that I am setting myself up for disappointment if I hope that some of the b-sides ("Butterfly," in particular) will be on this album! Still, sounds like an interesting look back.
I'm a little disappointed that these aren't original compositions. BUT I've been dreaming of Tori touring with an orchestra since 1998. I'm just... this is a dream come true seriously. I hope she plays Yes Anastasia when she comes to my neck of the woods. The quartet was dazzling. I can't even imagine what my body will do in the presence of Tori's music flying through the air with all the fullness of an orchestra. It will be PHENOMENAL. I'm so there.
