First Time for Everything

This morning for the first time in my life I was identified by two seemingly American business men in a down town coffee shop as "Russian".

“Are you Russian?” one of them said looking me straight in the eye…

same here.. I have been called Turkish, North African, you name it, but never Russian ;)

i have this ongoing routine.. when people ask me where i am from, i say with a straight face and without hesitation: "Texas" .. they usually pause for a second and rephrase their question: "I mean, where is your accent from" -- to which, again with a straight face and a slight disbelief in my eyes i say: "I have an accent?"

this kind of exchange stops dead any further questions on the subject.

ahhhh yes but here is the thing about this particular incounter
I didnt speak to these guys, they based their conclusion on my face !!! :))
