Game Render. History: Born into a high ranking family of New Sanctum, Ashelia (or Ashe for short) grew up in a life of prosperity. Her mother brought in good money in her industry, her father was part of the high ranked officials of the government (and one of the few who was not corrupt at the time), and her older brothers too, were quite well off. Being the youngest and the only girl, she was pampered and cared for throughout her early years. She however, was not always the most girl like, often taking to joining in fencing matches with the rest of her family, something that she had a talent for.
So this continued, Ashe living in happiness. When she was nine, she became friends with the son of another politician, who she saw at dance parties and other such events of that stature. Rasler Heios Nabradia. Her father knew his family well, and soon he and Rasler's father declared that the two would be wed when they were seventeen, an 'arranged marriage', if you will - as a stepping stone to intertwine the two very high ranked families, Nabradia and Dalmasca, together. Even if it was an arranged marriage, Ashe did not mind this turn of events, which she ignored as she grew up into womanhood - the two had fallen for each other regardless. Thus, when she was sixteen, they became engaged with no qualms.
However, this was not destined to last. The government, corrupt as it was, disliked the way Rasler's family was putting forward ideas, suggesting things that should be kept to one side and not shared publicly. A few disagreed and a wild argument broke out between several families and the Nabradia's - and no sooner than it appeared to calm down, several turned traitors and slew the Nabradia family all in one night, including Rasler. Ashe was merely seventeen when this happened, and upon hearing this news of the ‘death’ of her fiancée delved into grief. Her mother and some of her siblings too, were also slain by these traitors for being at the house that night. Fortunately, these traitors were soon found and 'disposed' of, but it was too late for Ashe. Her beloved, her brothers, and her mother were all dead, and beyond her reach.
It was about this time Ashe saw just how corrupt the government was. Some wanted the public to be kept in the dark, some were corrupted for power and glory - her father was growing old, and the death of his sons and mother had drove him almost insane, not hearing the cries of his daughter. One fateful day, Ashe decided to venture into the normal areas of the city, and that was when she witnessed a Tatakai incident, a rebellious act against the government and its ways. She tracked them down, and swore to meet with them, for avenging Rasler and her broken family. She met with them, and was soon accepted with the warning of if she gave the government wind of anything relating to the Tataki, she would be number one on the hit list of all the chapters in the city.
This was roughly a year ago, and Ashe has been accepted as a most valuable member, having her father so close to the high-ranking government officials. Because of this, she was promoted to having her own unit in the most inner city, Northswain's Glow, and also keeping discipline among the more rowdy units. She has since moved out of the family home to live by herself in a smaller house, but still relatively large - a portion of it is used as an 'emergency base' for her small unit. She still mourns the loss of Rasler, but is slowly coming to terms with it, and that the corruption of the government is to blame. She one day plans to take over from her father and slowly work her way upward to dissolving the corruption from within. For now, she is focussed on her Tatakai duties.
These days, she lives a double life as a high-class young woman, and as a fearful member of Northswain's Glow.
Personality: Ashe is first and foremost, rather stubborn, and perhaps a little stuck-up, which relates from the background she comes from. She's used to people doing everything for her and having everything she wants without even having to think of a price. She's not greedy, though, so it hasn't had much effect on her in that sense. Since the time of Rasler's apparent death she's become more and more independent, which is evident in her Tatakai duties. Her stuck-up demeanour is starting to fade, however, as she continues to work for Tatakai.
That said, Ashe has always been considerate of those in a worse off situation than her, and cares to help restore broken families to a better way of living.
If she gets angry, Ashe shows it clearly, often with harsh words and she won't stop till calmed. When she is happy, too, she also takes that to its full extent.
Powers/abilities/combat skills: She can fight, and quite well. As a child she often took to sparring with the other boys in fencing matches, something that her parents disproved of, but they didn't stop her, since she seemed to have a talent for it. As she grew closer to womanhood she had to quit her sword-fighting regime, but due to the rebel faction, she has since taken it up again. She is accustomed to a sword, but can also use a gun.
Has weak magical powers, particularly for healing magic, but she doesn't use them often since it causes great strain and fatigue on her mind and body for several days.
Extra: Is leader of her own faction of the Tatakai rebel group (Northswain's Glow), though hers is, albeit, quite small with only a few selected members. It is often charged with maintaining order to the other factions and speaking out in public (since afterall, Ashe is used to this). As she is leader of a faction, she also discharges herself with missions from information she hears through her connections to the government itself. Her house is used as an emergency base.
Ashe ran into Balthier on one of said missions, and even though they did not get off to a good start, they became acquaintances, and she soon struck up a friendly relationship with him. For a price, Ashe obtains weapons and supplies from him.
Her most prized possession is her engagement ring from Rasler, which she always wears.
In Canon: Ashe is the Princess of Dalmasca. Upon the fall to Archadia, she disappears under an apparent 'suicide', however she lives on as a freedom fighter under the name Amalia. She joins with Vaan and his group to help restore the country of Dalmasca, and to avenge her late husband, Rasler.
