Don't know how much this'll help you out, but there's a book floating around (which name I can't remember sorry) that has advice on getting jobs that have nothing to do with your degree, especially if you have a stronger interest in environmental science for a career choice. It'd be a good thing to look up, and if anything, you can check out commercial art stuff as a temporary thing. Lke Gelaskin, but if you're looking for some place in Toronto, some where in Dufferin like Orfus, that Creative Outlet place was looking for designs a few months back, probably still accepting too they just need a portfolio from what I remember and they pay you on what they like per piece.
