i know many of you think it's absurd to hear that a lot of your prime food source is poisonous to you, but here is a video since i like passing on information whether you like to hear it or not ( Read more... )

I'm not sure how much I believe this dude. I understand not wanting to consume genetically modified soy products, but people in asia have been eating soy for, what - centuries? - and they seem fine.

Obviously I could be wrong, but a lot of these scientific studies are disproven soon after.

Thanks for posting though!

there's a lot of research on that too. many different points, and many different opinions too... like, i dunno, you should look into it. i don't feel i know enough to recite it to you, but it's definitely worth looking into if i were you. :o)

the fight against soy has been very ongoing and more and more people are realizing the unhealthiness of it. it's just harder to reach the veg*n community with this research, as so many foods that replace meat and dairy are soy-based. i've never had a dependency on these gross things that taste less than fairly poor to me. my body doesn't react well to it either, and my stomach tosses around if i eat it.

after my last experiences--because i apparently need something bad to happen to me more than once to learn--and based on all of the research i've found on soy i would rather consume organic milk products than organic soy.

that's just me though. i'm more of a health-oriented person than animal activist.

yeah...i see where you're coming from and I agree to a point.....and I will definitely look more into it (I eat a fair amount of soy products). I've learned though to take info with a grain of salt because like I said before, things are so often disproven. I wonder if people can be soy intolerant, just like how so many are lactose intolerant? Maybe it's worse for some people and doesn't affect others at all. Hmm...something else to look into. But for now, since entire nations eat this stuff, I'm going to continue my 5 or so servings of soy per week, but if any concrete evidence pops up, I'll rethink that decision ( ... )

soy intolerance could be similar to lactose intolerance with the perspective that soy, just like pasteurized lactose/milk products should NEVER be consumed. certain people have intolerances and allergies to it because no one should eat it.... much like shellfish, as i believe no one should eat those either. shellfish are bottom feeders and oceans are very polluted ( ... )

there's lots of ways to be vegan without soy, so i'm not scared. i mean, i agree with the first commenter about how some cultures/countries have been eating this stuff for as long as they've been around so the harm can't be THAT great... it must be how we're using it. tempeh is fermented soy and it's DELICIOUS. there's also seitan for anyone not allergic to wheat gluten. i look at jainists in india and they've been vegan for centuries without soy. so, not the end of the world, just something to make you expand your palette if you're worried ( ... )

yeah, ever since i became vegan i've gone without soy. in my vegetarian stage, at first i thought i should eat soy like every other vegetarian... then i did more research about conventional pasteurized dairy, conventional eggs, and soy too, and realized that i didn't want to include any of that in my diet. it is totally possible to be vegan without soy, as i've done it for a long time. yes, soy is a versatile legume, but there are other legumes in this world that do less harm than soy.

hey you! I was like... where do I know this person from... my community, d-oh! :P

Yeah too much of everything is bad for you, that's why I'm trying not to eat soy as often as I did when I first turned vegetarian. It's hard at first but really, there's a lot of other stuff that can replace soy.

Seitan, for once, assuming you're not allergic to gluten...
