From what I saw when briefly looking at the news etc. posts, everybody fandom-related is mentioning the copyright violation thing as the one positive thing in all of this. *lol*

However, I think it probably won't change anything for copyright issues, since they'll be handling things from San Francisco, won't they?

Have you seen the sneaky move at the adult results default setting for all accounts? Very Big Brother-ish.

Yup, I did see it where it says Livejournal, Inc. stays under the USA jurisdiction, what is somewhat reassuring, although I still think all the user info is currently being sold -- if not sold already -- to every and any spam company that made a request and signed a paycheck. And, of course, secret services adjusted their databases, because they love cataloguing people even if they are of no use to them. :P

I saw that adult thing and still can't figure out how to activate one bar that looks uncontrollable.

Mind you, sheltering from evils of porn is another positive thing of being a Russian property - in their part of 'net, porn's just another way to attract clicks and annoy visitors. I mean, I go to grab a wallpaper or two for my mum to Russian sector of the Net -- and not only all the wallpaper sites have a lovely obvious porn wallpaper catalogue, but about half of banners and ads swarming there is porn. Softcore porn, still it's enough to make browsing together with mum somewhat embarrassing. :S

Yeah, the part about them moving the files over there bothers me too. The US is Big Brothery enough, but Russia sounds creepy.
It says one can opt out of it, but I don't know yet how.

Real life porn is fun as long as it's somewhat tastefully done or at least uses beautiful people. Sadly, the vast majority of it fails to fit either of those categories. XD

The uncontrollable bar will be normal if you edit your profile to give them a year of birth over 18. You can have it be non-displayed in the profile itself.
