Rivka, the warrior
Rivka is the secondary protagonist of my upcoming novel, The Second Mango. If she were in the Harry Potter novels, she'd be a Gryffindor -- first, act bravely; second, maybe think about it afterwards. Her native language is Yiddish and her main form of transportation is a horse that spends a lot of time in dragon form.
She has some pretty special memories, too...
They lurked in corners together, sharing private jokes, kindred souls apart from the rest. Rivka remembers her skill being patiently honed against the grindstone until, like her own steel, she was sharp, shining, and ready to face the world.
He wasn’t easy on her, but he was easy on her spirit.
