Retreat Within - A Shadorma

Aug 29, 2010 12:59

Another Shadorma, the first that I've written in some months. But for some reason when I woke up I felt like writing and thus here we have the first poem I've written since March, the first that wasn't a request since before even that.

Retreat Within

Just shut out
the rest of the world,
abandon
all the noise,
ignore the callous whispers
and the endless jests.

Retreat to
that place kept within,
the quiet
solitude
that allows you to survive
and thrive as yourself.

That place where
neither love nor hate
can reach you,
where your thoughts
won’t be criticized or judged,
a place void of lies.

Wrap yourself
within the sunlight
filtering through
the window,
the calming peace of morning
that belongs to you.

Searching for
that thing which you had
felt was lost,
that center
which so narrowly divides
who you are and were.

Find yourself
before you try to
find the world,
still your mind
and focus on the fading
dreams within your heart.

Only then
can you give yourself,
only then
can they see
who you really are within;
where this life begins.
