I'm sure the whole interview at the end of the "A Necessary Evil" book that Torri has read has already been transcribed elsewhere by someone else, but if not, here is something interesting. The interview is obviously not very old. Here is her complete answer as to why she is no longer doing Atlantis.

QUESTION: Have you heard anymore as to ( Read more... )

That's exactly why I wanted Liz to die in the first place even though she was my favourite character. I'm glad now that Torri decided not to come back. There wouldn't have been closure and it would have ended like this whole Ford storyline which is unfinished as well. And I also think Torri deserves much better :]

I miss Elizabeth, and I would like to have her back in any capacity, but I understand her reasons. Still stinks, though!

But if it is going to be something that drags on, one episode a season, it's simply not worth it to me, and obviously, not to Torri either, which is why I applaud her decision even more. I can't invest my time in a show that's become so incredibly mediocre, and only after 3 season! Instead of improving their writing, TPTB would rather kill off/get rid of the actors that are the core of their show. God forbid they blame themselves for the mediocrity that Atlantis has become.

The girl frakkin rocks!! As a fan, I am more proud to see her stand by her principles and decline a return to Atlantis than I would be to see her cave just because she felt obligated to.

They've treated her like crap so much recently. Kudos to her for moving on!

Even if I do miss Weir ;)

My thoughts exactly. I was SOOOO proud of basically giving the finger to Mallozzi. He was so damned smug thinking she'd come back when he waved a script at her and she proved him dead wrong.

Totally. It was sweet vindication, IMO, for every serious Weir/Torri fan against that "good old boy" asshole club at Bridge Studios.

And yeah...I miss Weir too.

Yay for Torri. I'd much rather she retain her self respect and cut ties with people who've treated her so poorly than walk into an uncomfortable situation for the bit of closure it might provide fans if the writers actually ended her story rather than continuing to play musical Weirs. Mallozzi's wounded pride act over her refusal (after prattling on about the wardrobe of her last appearance in patronizing fashion!) was far more entertaining.

The beauty of it is, since the show has already introduced one Weir doppelganger and was vague about whether her last appearance was the real McCoy or not, even if they do close the storyline out as intended with another actress fans will be free to accept or deny it as they prefer. Meanwhile, the producers get a storyline watered down by Torri's absence and catch all the flack for it from the fans.

Good on her! I'd have loved to see more of her, of course, but I don't blame her one tiny bit, and I applaud her for not letting them jerk her around.
