So.

Yesterday I had the most painful non-migraine headache of my life so far, and I think I've narrowed down the culprit, learning something on the way.

Powdered iced tea mix goes bad, eventually.Typically I let my nose do the good/bad judgement, but iced tea mix never stops smelling delicious. ... so it must be just fine, right? What a great way ( Read more... )

Some of the artificial sweeteners have very short shelf lives. I think it's nutrasweet that turns into a close relative of formaldahyde over time, and the warmer the storage temperature, the faster that conversion happens. Regular sugar, as long as it is kept dry and intact in a semi-airtight container, will last pretty much indefinitely. Same for honey. there were jars of dried honey recovered from egyptian tombs that are perfectly edible and tasty.

It contains regular sugar. Only things in it that, in my mind, could possibly go bad is citric acid, instant tea, or 'natural lemon flavours'
