hooray!

well that sounds great Dana! I actually got the boxed set of Across the Nightingale floor ... so I still have a copy! Did you end up reading it?

Apart from that and Mao's Last Dancer (which I have also read), I would love to read them! Actually maybe I should read your copy of Mao's Last Dancer because somehow I bought the "young reader's version" instead of the normal one - whoops!

Well if there is anything you would like to read, let me know. I see Janet Evanovich has a new one out although no one here has bought it.

Not to get all "I love the bible and why is it at 27" here, but come on now old chap!
Out of the 26 books before it, two are allegories for it, two are challening its world view head-on, four or five are seeking to overtly promote its worldview and another handful are playing around with and commenting on its worldview.
So even from a completely non-religious perspective it is obviously the most important and influential book there is, and also the undisputed best-seller of all time.
Christians do far and away the most charity, relief and social justice work too but no one ever mentions that either.
Rant over!

PS: Jesus was cool.
